A short wooden log stands on your bedside table next to your book and your reading glasses. A natural branch extends from the top of the log, reaching over the edge of the table. From the tip of the branch, a leather cord drops down holding a wide conical mushroom cap face-down. The cap glows warm amber, its hand-carved gill lines casting a focused circle of golden light onto the nightstand surface below, lighting your book, your coffee cup, and your glasses without reaching the pillow beside you.
Solid Wood Log Stem
The stem is a section of solid wood log, standing upright on a shaped base. The log is peeled of bark but retains its natural cylinder form with knot eyes, grain swirls, and the occasional dark heartwood feature visible on the surface. The wood is kiln-dried and finished in a warm golden tone with natural oil. The grain runs vertically, showing cathedral patterns and tight growth rings depending on the piece. The log diameter is compact enough to share a nightstand with a book, a phone, and a water glass.
Branch Arm
A natural branch extends from the upper portion of the log, reaching outward and slightly downward at a casual angle. The branch is part of the original log or sculpted from the same block, maintaining continuous grain from stem to arm. The tip of the branch holds a small hand-forged brass fitting from which the leather cord hangs. The branch is sanded smooth with rounded edges and finished in the same warm tone as the log.
Suspended Gill Glow Cap
The cap hangs face-down from a single leather cord tied to the brass fitting on the branch tip. The cap shape is a wide, shallow cone with a live edge bark rim and a polished top surface showing flowing golden grain. Underneath, hundreds of tight gill lines are carved by hand from the center outward to the rim. A small built-in LED shines through the carved channels, casting warm light in a focused downward cone.
The pendant suspension allows the cap to hang at the perfect angle for bedside reading. The leather cord is adjustable in length, so you can raise or lower the cap to suit your nightstand height and reading position.
Leather Cord and Brass Fitting
The suspension cord is a single strip of natural leather in a warm brown tone that darkens with age. The brass fitting at the branch tip is small, hand-forged, with an antique patina. The combination of warm wood, worn leather, and aged brass gives the lamp a lived-in, handmade character. The electrical micro-cord runs inside the leather strip, down through the branch, through the log stem, and out the back of the base.
Shaped Base
The base is a rounded rectangle of solid wood, matching the stem and branch in tone and species. It provides a stable, flat platform on the nightstand surface. The edges are softly rounded. A felt pad protects the furniture underneath.
